Billie my cheeky baby pup
Sunny my old heart dog
Hi, I'm Leilani, the proud owner of Blooming Grooms dog grooming salon.
I've always had a strong love and connection to animals but especially dogs. Early in my career, I worked as a kennel hand, volunteering at the local animal shelter, The Animal Welfare League of Queensland. It was there I broadened my knowledge of dog behaviour giving me daily hands on experience.
Back in the day, I would usually come home with a dog or two to foster until they were well enough to be adopted by their new family. Whilst working there, I was fortunate enough to be offered a secondment role through the City of Gold Coast as an Animal Management officer. It was an eye opening role having to deal with some of the most heart breaking cases within the Gold Coast community.
My dog grooming journey began with my own two dogs. Being Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, they require a lot of grooming! I was determined to learn how to groom them myself, especially when we added our puppy Billie to our family. I enrolled to do a short course in dog grooming and it was then the spark was lit for my passion and love for dog grooming began.
Naturally, I progressed to do further study to become a fully qualified dog groomer. I’ve since attended many seminars, dabbled in competition grooming and worked tirelessly to improve my skill set to not only improve myself but also my small team.
Grooming for me is an art, I love creating beautiful haircuts but what makes my heart sing is seeing dogs enjoy the process. How they relax on the grooming table, it’s that balance of creativity and care it’s the heart of everything I do at Blooming Grooms.
These days, I spend my spare time with my husband, our two daughters and our two dogs, Sunny & Billie. We love traveling to new places where we can take our dogs along with us and they love it too.
I look forward to meeting you & your pooch in the salon soon!
